No, if you are comparing the value to mods then somebody is always going to think it's too high, whether it's $20 or $10 or $5 somebody is going to come here posting, "Well I can get mods for free." That's a fine personal reason for why you may not want to buy it, but objectively it doesn't work as an argument against the price. Well, there goes any validity for your comment. Mods wouldnt be a thing without the game. Hopefully this DLC will be 10 dollars, because if it's more it's a(n even bigger) rip off. They should've made it 10 dollars, which is what it's worth at most. Your answer: forget mods and take the games known for being the literal worst when it comes to DLC as an even worse example to make Rimworld look better.Īlso, do you believe the 'market' stuff you're spouting? Rimworld is more than popular enough for the sales of the base game itself to fund a year of development. Do you even realise that the Royalty DLC costs 2/3rds of the base game? A single DLC? A single, rather lacklustre DLC? Mods are the only thing turning Rimworld from a decent game into a stellar game. Most people's gripe: Royalty, a 20 dollar DLC, has less content than some free stuff a (couple of) guy(s) made in their free time. Compare RimWorld to something like a Paradox game or The Sims and the expansions really do offer a lot for their value. Sales of DLC never do that well for any game, so the price point is going to be higher compared to the base game to pay for the same amount of development. Spending over a year developing an update and expansion to the game costs money, devs need to be paid. I can understand the viewpoint of people not wanting to buy it because mods add so much different content, but if you take mods out of the equation and look at the gameplay added by Royalty it's easily worth the price and I think it's safe to assume Ideology will be as well. Royalty adds a lot more than people give it credit for. Originally posted by Astasia:They always planned to do multiple so their pricing likely isn't going to change.
